One of the keys to Lowry success is its support of public / private partnerships. In promoting that thought we recently have become members of The Great Lakes Hazards Coalition (GLHC), a partnership that was started in 2008 through the Homeland Security Grant Program, representing only four states and supporting key stakeholders. Since then it has grown and currently represents government, business and non-governmental organizations throughout the Region. Today, the Coalition represents the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, in addition to the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
The goal of the Great Lakes Hazards Coalition is to strengthen communication, collaboration and planning in the Great Lakes Region in order to enhance protection, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery of the Region’s critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR). With government and private representation from all levels of decision making and leadership the GLHC is a perfect avenue to discuss regional and “hometown” solutions that address many of Lowry products and services. The GLHC has regular monthly webinars as well as two larger get-togethers within the region each year. Membership includes the Ohio Grocers Association, Dow Chemical Company, Motorola Solutions, Homeland Security and Emergency Management regional offices and a number of universities’ and higher education. We are looking forward to being an active member and providing possible solutions to the problems and issues within our own region.
