In 2015 Lowry Solutions participated in its 4th Gleaners Food & Fund Drive donating 34,485 meals in support of local Livingston County, MI citizens. The donation was a combination of food items, employee-donated funds, and company-matched funds. Meals are distributed locally by Gleaners Community Food Bank. “I am so proud of the generosity Lowry’s team demonstrated during the Gleaners Food & Fund Drive,” said Michael Lowry, President and CEO of Lowry Solutions. “Gleaners is a great organization that truly supports our local community in the fight against hunger.”
The final meal count is determined based on the combination of food and funds donated during the drive.
“At the beginning of the Gleaners Drive Mike (Lowry) committed Lowry Solutions to matching every dollar donated by Lowry employees,” said Debbie Melvin, Executive Assistant to Mike Lowry at Lowry Solutions. “Lowry employees donated a total of $2,800 in cash which Lowry Solutions matched for a total of $5,600.”
Lowry Solutions also donated 885 pounds of food and assorted personal items.
In the fall of 2015 Bridget Green, Director of Livingston Operations at Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, stopped by Lowry Solutions to provide information about the Gleaners Food and Fund Drive.
“I have spoken in front of many organizations. I could truly sense Lowry’s commitment to fighting hunger,” Green said. “Everyone was engaged. Everyone was interested. I was really excited to see the genuine eagerness to help.”
As part of the Gleaners Food and Fund Drive in 2015, the Gleaners Board of Directors agreed to match all financial donations received by December 15, 2015. According to Green, Lowry Solutions went above and beyond to ensure they met the deadline.
“Because Lowry met the deadline, the Gleaners Board of Directors matched Lowry’s $5,600 donation,” Green said.
To help facilitate employees in donating food items, Lowry Solutions reached out to CostCo and asked if Lowry employees could use the Lowry corporate membership to shop for the Gleaners Food & Fund Drive.
“Mike (Lowry) thought it was a great idea to engage CostCo so I reached out to their management (Brighton, MI) and they were happy to welcome Lowry employees,” said Melvin. “During one full week Lowry employees could shop for donation items at CostCo under Lowry’s membership.”
According to Green, Lowry Solutions demonstrated outstanding corporate citizenship in the fight against hunger.
“From individual contributions to company-matched funds and innovative strategies for engaging external resources, Lowry Solutions’ commitment to the 2015 Gleaners Food & Fund Drive was truly inspiring,” Green said.
