Environmental Sustainability produces huge ROI

Summary: The article highlights the importance of environmental sustainability in business. At Michigan’s Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies awards, Governor Snyder emphasized that environmentally responsible decisions often generate strong financial returns despite initial costs. Lowry supports this view, reporting positive ROI from sustainability initiatives implemented over the previous two years.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the awards ceremony for 101 Best and Brightest Michigan Sustainable companies.  As the program manager for sustainability here at Lowry, it was very encouraging to learn about how others companies from Michigan are obtaining their sustainability goals.

The highlight of yesterday’s event for me was listening to Governor Snyder’s speak in regards to our state, and the focus organizations should have on sustainability.   His talk centered on the theme that environmentally sound decisions made by organizations also tend to be economically positive answers.  He continued on to talk about, although environmental sustainability decisions typically have an upfront charge, they produce a huge ROI rather quickly.  Governor Snyder commended all the companies who obtain the award today, because to him we are leaders in the state, and have embraced this business practice.  This is a theme that Lowry agrees with and is seeing ROI associated with the environmentally positive decisions we have made throughout the last two years.

Thank you Michigan Business & Professional Association, Corp! Magazine, and Davenport University for putting on such a wonderful event, and awarding our company as one of Michigan Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies!
